Arthurs Pass National Park - established 1923 (1st in the South Island), 1144 sq km. In the heart of the Southern Alps, Arthur's Pass National Park has an incredible diversity of flora and landscape. They range from eastern beech clad hills and tussock valleys to the luxuriant rain forest in the west.
Highway 73 runs through the park, giving easy access to the alpine zone. The highest mountains have glaciers and surrounding them are tussock basins, flowering herbs and alpine grasses.
Craigieburn Conservation Park is a small mountainous park adjoining the National Park on the drier eastern side of the Main Divide. Known for its skifields, it also offers good tramping, camping and picnicking.
Devils Punchbowl Walking Track – 2km return walk; low to moderate fitness required, gradual incline with steps. Walk through lush beech forest to a stunning 131m waterfall where you can feel the full force and sound of the fresh mountain waterfall
Black Estate winery is an award-winning, family owned, organic winery situated 45 mins north of Christchurch.
They have three vineyards as well as a restaurant onsite.
Netherwood is one of the smaller, picturesque vineyards in the estate 5km north of the Black Estate restaurant, tucked in amongst the hills, a beautiful space right beside the traditional winery.
The space and setting is truly private with no other patrons visiting the property.
The bus will pick you up from Te Pae Convention Centre at 930am and will travel north to Canterbury’s world-renowned wine region, Waipara.
You will be met at the vineyard by one of the owners of Black Estate and taken on a tour through the winery. You will be given a taste of their award-winning wines then relax at the beautiful Netherwood winery room for a lovely lunch featuring some of the local produce.
You will depart the vineyard at approx. 2pm and returned to Te Pae convention Centre at approx. 245pm.
